Crash Course On Cellulites

June 22nd, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Robert Thatcher Wearing really short skirts can be a liberating experience for the modern woman unless theres a couple of cellulite lines peaking through. This is perhaps one of the greatest sources of frustration for women around the world. And though there are creams and surgical procedures that promise to remove those pesky lines, there is still no sure-fire way to remove all of them. What is cellulite? Cellulites are fat tissues that have bands of connective tissues in them. These tissues are found in certain areas of the body: the thighs, abdominal area and buttocks for the women. Men have cellulites in the neck and in the abdomen. Often, they are whiter or several shades lighter than their skin tones. When proper circulation occurs, smooth layers ensue; but when fluids in the layers, the stored fats, and chemical toxins do not get flushed out and are trapped within the skin, the tissues harden and thicken, thus producing bumpy lines in the skin. Although all people have basically the same smooth layers of cellulite, the resulting appearance will depend upon genetics, the lifestyle of the person and the weight of the individual, which are all factors in the cellulite formation. There are different types of cellulites. One kind occurs in the muscles of active women such as those who are dancers and runners. The hard or solid cellulites are hard to remove as they are attached directly to the muscles. Soft cellulites on the other hand are much more visible and may even sag from the body. And though it occurs in large muscle areas, they are easy to remove. Unfortunately, women are the frequent victims of cellulite problems. The problem can start when they are as young as 14 years old and as they mature, the affected areas become larger. Women who are on birth control pills and those who had just given birth are also more susceptible. People who have suffered from injuries can also develop cellulites. Treatment procedures Cellulite creams available in the market have proven to be effective in preventing the appearance of cellulites but they cannot completely eradicate the tissues. These creams that contain alpha-hydroxyl acids do not actually remove the cellulites but rather improves the elasticity of the skin, thus making the cellulites less obvious. Exercise and diet is still, without a doubt, the best way to fight the cellulites. Women (and men) should also make it a point to find time to relax and go to spas body pampering. Exercise is particularly effective because circulation can help reduce the appearance of the cellulites. Detoxifying diet should also be practiced. The diet should include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Whole grain foods are also greatly recommended. Foods that should be avoided include coffee and soft drinks. Some say that spicy foods also contribute much in the appearance of cellulites but nothing much have been proven yet. Cigarette smoking and drinking alcohol should also be avoided as they can help in the build-up of toxins in the body. Although a low-fat diet is not necessary, some experts recommend reducing the consumption of fatty foods as these are harder to digest and to get rid of. Fats also contribute in enlargening the size of the cellulites. Water therapy is also effective in helping make cellulites become less visible as it washes off toxins in the body as well as removes fats. It also aids in proper digestion and blood circulation. Hoodia Gordonii: Weight Loss Miracle or Diet Deception

June 19th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Nick Leonard Hoodia Gordonii is a weight loss supplement that promises to eliminate your desire to eat. This claim was backed up by a 60 minuets reporter who did a story about Hoodia and made the statement that after trying the diet pill his appetite was gone. With millions of overweight people jumping from one diet fad to the next the thought of taking a pill to curb cravings might sound like a dream come true, but is there any truth to this Hoodia hype? While pure Hoodia has been proven to stop you from wanting to eat there are literally hundreds of products claiming to contain this latest magic bullet in the battle against obesity. This might not mean much until you realize just how scarce Hoodia is. Consider that Hoodia Gordonii is only grown in certain parts of the desert, and after the recent media exposure there is no way for the supply to meet the demand. What does this say for all those diet pills claiming to contain Hoodia? Well in means most of them are lying! In fact pure Hoodia is very expensive and hard to get so when you see the newest latest and greatest weight loss pill claiming to contain Hoodia odds are that there are only trace amounts that will have little or no effect. What can you do to make sure your getting the highest quality Hoodia in your weight loss supplements? Look at the list of ingredients and make sure Hoodia is the only one listed, and that there is at least 400mg. If its $8.00 for a 2 month supply its not real Hoodia. Any diet pill made from 100% pure Hoodia is going to cost about $30-$45 for a months supply. Go to the companies website and see where theyre getting there Hoodia from, look at any research theyve conducted, and see if they have any certificates to back up their claims. Aromatherapy to Relax Your Mind and Body

June 7th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Chelsea Aubin If you just need something to help you relax and unwind from a hard day of work, or any other stressful activities, then aromatherapy might be for you. You might think that aromatherapy is just another new age trick that is designed to get your money and make you think you feel better. But this is not so. Studies have shown that this treatment can actually help with stress on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Not convinced? Here is some background information on it. Aromatherapy relates to the natural method of healing the mind and body with essential plant oils that are either rubbed into the skin or inhaled. Some commonly used aromatherapy plants are juniper, rosemary, lavender and sage. This message was first used in ancient china. The ancient Chinese used these methods in a medical use. In all of aromatherapy products, the main ingredients are essential oils. Basically essential oils are the liquid essence of the original plant. A very concentrated substance, essential oil comes in small bottles and is diluted using a mix of water and carrier oils to be applied to the skin. If you are inhaling essential oils, be certain to use a light dose of the fluid, as too much of it can be hazardous to your health. There are many different forms of aromatherapy. Some people use aromatherapy candles or incense, and breathe in the soothing scent of various fragrances. Scent triggers certain reactions in the brain and lets off chemicals in the brain, which causes mental relaxation. Other types of oils, salts and lotions can be used on the skin, creating the same effect except physical. Others use aromatherapy as a way to look and feel younger and more vibrant. Whenever you feel the need to just let go, unwind, and relax, aromatherapy can help a lot. The therapy will loosen your mind and your muscles. Not matter what, you wont regret using aromatherapy. Depression: The Death Fantasy

June 1st, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Samantha Weaver Depression affects 1 in 3 people in the UK and can vary from mild to extremely severe. Having suffered severe depression for the majority of my life, I feel equipped enough to be able to discuss the way the mind works in relation to the topic of depression and death. At some point while suffering with severe depression, I began to start thinking about death. Death I eventually began to believe as being the only option available to me to rid myself of the pain I was experiencing. Of course, I now know that it is not the only option, but I sincerely believed that it was at the time. The death fantasy that those who suffer with severe depression begin to experience had pounced on me and was starting to cloud and distort my mind. There wasnt a day that passed that I wasnt thinking about death in one way or another. At first, I had simple thoughts. What would my funeral be like? Who would attend it? But over time, these thoughts became more isolated and the questions I began to ask myself started to turn into images in my mind. I could actually picture myself following through with suicide. I would question how easy it would be to kill myself? Could I just step out off the pavement into the road and in front of oncoming traffic? Could I jump from a bridge? Could I hang myself or poison myself? Which of these methods would be the quickest, the least painful? Of course, I knew what I was thinking wasnt right. I knew I should not be torturing myself with this type of thought, but I couldnt stop myself, I couldnt help myself and I started to think about things more deeply. How long would it be before someone noticed I wasnt around? How long would it take for my body to be found? The worst times were when I was sat alone, at home with nothing on TV, no-one to talk to and no-one around that could distract me or talk some degree of sense back into me. If I went to the kitchen to make a sandwich, I was troubled when I picked a knife out of the cutlery drawer and began considering how I could use it to slit my wrists. I only ever made my sandwich and never became a self-harmer, but the thoughts were there, the death fantasy always lingering in my mind, in my daily routines, ready to pounce on me if things got too tough, if I found I was unable to cope with something. Its like it became an opt-out option there if I needed it. I started to question if this type of thinking meant that I was crazy? Maybe I wasnt right in the head; maybe I actually was a loony or a psycho? For certainly any normal person wouldnt be thinking about death, wouldnt be as fixated on it as me? Many people think that suicide attempts are a cry for help but I can categorically say that they are not necessarily that. Depression distorts the mind so much that all a person can think about is the negativity in their lives and a way out of the pain - death. They hate to feel sad, to feel depressed, to feel as thought they are unable to function. No-one that suffers with depression wants to feel the way that they do and it is a very scary thing to find yourself contemplating your own death in your mind. Thankfully, I managed to get myself into my GPs practise. But the fear of telling a professional the type of thoughts that you are thinking is huge. I worried that I would be sectioned, worried that I would be thrown into a straight jacket and dismissed as crazy in a mental institution. The courage that I had to find to discuss what was happening in my head was immense. However, it took strength, courage and a strong belief in that I was doing the right thing to help myself. And the advice I would give anyone else who may be suffering depression and in a similar position to that which I was in is to seek the help, to talk to someone, to try to do something before considering the only option that you think is available to you. Because death isnt your only option - you can get better and have a life depression free. I am living proof. Curly Hair - Don’t Quit On Those Curls!

May 29th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Debora Ackner Cursing your curly locks? Trust me, those with straight hair are wishing they were you. So with these curls come options. Do you wear it curly or do you take the time to straighten? Chances are, if you straighten you already know exactly what to do and when you want to wear curls, you question how to style without the frizz and loosing your curls. There are some important tips to follow so you can get the most beautiful curl possible that will hold all day. When shampooing your hair always use a moisture rich shampoo and conditioner. While the conditioner is on brush it through with a wide tooth comb. This is the last time you should run a comb through your hair until your next shampooing and NEVER use a brush on curly hair. When done DO NOT towel dry your hair. The friction will open the cuticle and that’s what causes the frizz. So, just blot gently and then apply product. When you are leaving your hair curly you should always use a smoothing and curling product and it should be applied when the hair is wet and saturated. Apply the product from the bottom of the shaft making your way up to the root in a scrunching motion. If you choose to blow dry you must use a diffuser because the full force of air without it will also move the cuticle again causing frizz. For beautiful, full curls let your hair air dry without any manipulation at all. Once you see how springy your curls can be and how easy it is to achieve once you know how, your curls will be the envy of every straight haired girl! One more very important thing for the perfect curly head is to get a good haircut. Find a stylist who has curly hair. She is the one who can best relate! So its like they say, if you have it, flaunt it. Need more curly tips? Drop me a line! I am a licensed, professional cosmetologist and esthetician. I am a makeup artist & I love makeup! How To Keep Love Alive In Your Marriage

May 26th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Patty Apostolides In the beginning of a relationship, love seems to have a life of its own. Without much effort, you feel like you are on top of the world. You catch yourself smiling and laughing often, and feeling warm inside whenever you are with your loved one. Everything and everyone suddenly appears better through the rose-colored glasses of love. This euphoric feeling does not last forever, however. After the first year of marriage, the day to day activities of being married, working in a job, raising a family, buying and maintaining a home, etc., all take their toll, and romance takes a back seat. Love has to be worked on, just like a gardener with his garden. Although he has planted the seeds, and expects the sun and rain to do most of the work, he still has to pull the weeds out of the garden, to fertilize it, and water it if there isnt enough rain. That is the same with a healthy, loving relationship. When love becomes a high priority in a marriage, it is taken care of and nurtured daily. The resulting love rewards you by growing into a more mature, mellow, committed feeling, and when tested, rises up to meet the challenge. How does one keep love alive in a marriage? Make Time You need to designate quality time with your loved one. Dont take it for granted that he/she will always be there when you want them. Remember all those dates you took when you were courting? Now, its not so easy. Theres usually someone else making demands on him/her whether its the children with their homework, or the boss expecting you to work late hours, or even an elderly parent that requires assistance. Also, it now might require finding a baby-sitter, or juggling the time with another activity that might take precedence. Whatever happens, make time for each other. Also, make time to hug and/or kiss each other often. Youll be glad you did. The time you spend together will re-energize you and make you feel good for the rest of the day. If you cant get away, you can still set a date at home, after the children are asleep. The important thing is to have fun together. Here are a few things you can plan to do at home together: Physical intimacy might put some soft music in the background, maybe even dance together. Pour a favorite drink, make an ice cream sundae, or grab some munchies, and have fun talking with your loved one. Play a favorite board game or card game, anything that makes you enjoy yourselves. Make popcorn and watch a favorite video. This is not the time to solve lifes problems or issues. If there are any lurking issues in the background (and these may be keeping you from enjoying yourself), then sometimes you just might have to talk about it first, get it out in the open in a loving environment, then continue with your plans. Often, positive energy is tied up within us when a problem or issue has not been resolved. Use these times to tell him/her how special they are to you (how intelligent, how thoughtful, how loving, how caring, etc.). What is Romance? Romance is the opportunity to show your loved one how special he/she is to you. It means taking the time for them, and making time, even if you dont have it. It doesnt mean thinking only about yourself, or having only your needs met. It means putting the other person first. Here are some ideas to spice up your romance: Do small acts of kindness give him/her flowers, or a little gift, or write a poem, etc. Say Thank you and “I Love You” often. Be considerate of his/her feelings, etc. Take long walks together anywhere. Share jokes at mealtime. Laughter is a great way to share ones love. Visit a museum, visit community festivals, tour a new site, or attend a lecture together. Hug and kiss often. If your spouse doesnt do things for you, then show him/her by gently pointing out what you like. If you like flowers for your birthday, and you havent gotten flowers, then let them know, particularly when he/she asks you what you would like. Dont think they can read your mind, let them know. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate Over time, we learn how to read our spouse. Their behavior, their actions, are important clues that alert us to how they are feeling. Often, we think we know what they are thinking, and we become sloppy, and dont talk about it, or they dont bring it up. For example, if he had a bad day at the office, and comes home snapping at the children and being tense, the last thing to do is to take it personally. Invite him to relax, as dinner is prepared, then after hes eaten, ask him how his day was. Sooner or later, the truth will come out, and you will learn what happened. You need to be a responsive listener, and not criticize your spouse, for he will surely clam up. The last thing he wants to hear is criticism. Other signs that can bring on a spouses anger/tenseness: Hunger: If your spouse hasnt eaten for awhile, not only their stomach growls, but they growl also. Keep your husband well fed (but not overfed) Criticism: Try and avoid criticizing your partner. If there is something bothering you, then voice it in a way that you dont point fingers or blame him/her. Try not to keep distance between you. Communicate your feelings, how his/her action affected you, and how you were hurt by that action. Never, ever criticize your spouse in public. An apology is forthcoming, no matter how right you thought you were. Tiredness: If your husband has been working all day, and you ask him to do a bunch of chores when he gets home, dont expect him to thank you. See if you can spread the chores out, so they include the weekend. Planning ahead helps here. Take Care of Your Body Although you may not look like you did when you were dating years ago, you can take measures to look just as good if not better. Physical wellbeing - make sure you stay in shape, eat the right foods, and dress nicely. All these actions not only get more compliments your way, they make you feel good about yourself, so that you can be more confident in yourself. Spiritual wellbeing dont neglect this powerful aspect of life. Pray, go to church, believe. Studies have shown that families that pray together, stay together. Mental wellbeing if you are a stay-at-home mother, find some good books to read, or read the newspaper or magazines. This will allow you to keep abreast with interesting topics, and will provide your spouse an interesting partner to discuss life issues with. Dont Substitute Dont substitute anyone or anything else for your loved one. Dont go to a coworker or a friend, and share intimate secrets, because you may be betraying your loved ones trust. Dont watch television or be on the computer all the time, when you could be spending quality time with your loved one. Dont spend all your time with the children, ignoring your spouse, because your husband or wife should be number one on the list. If people, organizations, or children clamor for your attention, put your spouse first, and then them. When you put your spouse first, youll notice you wont need to be going to all these other people for emotional support. Youll also notice youll be having more fun with the person youll spend the rest of your life with. Dont underestimate the importance of love in a marriage. Cherish and nurture it, and you will have made the best investment in your life. About The Author Patty Apostolides is author of Lipsi’s Daughter. Build Steady and Healthy Marriages, a Union of Body, Mind & Soul - Be Prepared to be Great Parents!

May 17th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Lucy Wong Moi Marriage is a Union of Body, Mind and Soul. Love is a flow, a fluid that flows continually like a fountain… [part 1 of 2] Marriage is a union of body, mind and soul. Before marriage you have complete right over your body but now, only half the body belongs to you. The right side of the wife is the husband, and the left side of the husband is the wife. The husband and wife are like the locomotive and the compartment. To function usefully in life both must be together. One is useless without the other. The husband and wife should always stay together and eat in the presence of each other too. The wife of the house must be always smiling and radiating Love. This is real beauty. Piling hair upon hair and doing fancy hair styles is not beauty. Before marriage, the girl should love her parent as a daughter, after marriage, the girl should also regard her in-laws as her parents. To serve her parents in-law is her duty. Even though the wife has to obey her husband, she must exercise authority jointly with her husband. The wife must develop self-confidence, because of self-confidence is the basis and self-realization is the goal of life. What is real love then? [1] Real Love is unconditional… By unconditional we mean love, which does not demand anything back in return for that love. It is pure and unsullied by motives; it always gives, gives, and gives; never demanding anything back in return; there are no strings or conditions attached to this love. That is real love. Not only does this love not ask for anything in return, but continues to flow in spite of ingratitude or abuse. That is Real Love which never changes under any set of circumstances. [2] Love is a flow, a stream of spiritual matter, a fluid that flows continually like a fountain….. Love is not an explosion, but a continued emanation, a psychic radiation which proceeds from the lover to the beloved.” Here, the beloved can be one’s child, one’s friend, one’s spouse, one’s parents or one’s Creator. When it includes libidinal energy, the beloved becomes one’s lover. But sexuality without the spiritual dimension, merely on an animal level is like comparing a hut to a castle. [3] Love lives by giving and forgiving, [4] Self lives by getting and forgetting… [5] The mind sees separateness, love sees unity…. [6] ‘Love casts out fear!’ 1 John 4:18 [7] When the husband and the wife accepts each other as life-partners, vowed to stay with each other, be it rain or shine, thereof we are committed to stay together. Of course, with love as the main ingredient of the family, all things will turn out nice and happy. But sad to say, too many people aren’t as committed as should be. I am not going to talk too much on its negative sides Think twice…. I used to share this short story. When two lovers come together to marry, they are building up a family. It is like building a house. A few kids will fill up the house, making it noisy and dirty. If the roof of the house starts leaking, what will the father do? Leave it to deteriorate or throw the house away and go to build another new house? The answer is NO! The father will find means to mend the house because the whole family lives in it. Likewise, if in the case when a man’s marriage is breaking, one needs not throw away this marriage and aims to start another new family! Whose house will not leak? Whose marriage is guaranteed to be built only on roses, milk and honey? There is a way out, to solve it by ‘mending’, to save the marriage. There is this urgent need for mending, not leaving the marriage to die….. because there are kids! Don’t be the creator of miseries and sufferings for your own kids. Never..ever think of it! to be continued… Lucy Wong is a health and nutrition consultant. Her interest in health related issues include the development of mental health. Diagnosis and Treatments of Cerebral Palsy

May 14th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Barry_Hynes] Barry Hynes Before a child can be appropriately diagnosed with cerebral palsy, their doctor must first have to look closely at both the child and the mothers medical background to see if there are any known causes of cerebral palsy present in the case. The doctor will very carefully check the baby’s motor skills and the reflexes, and then will be tested by a physician, also they will try to determine the Childs hand preference often a child with cerebral palsy will use the hand that is not always the most practical to them due to the fact that depending on the brain damage one side of the body will be much stronger than the other side that is affected. When cerebral palsy has been diagnosed doctors may go on to do x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, ct scans and MRI, to determine the possible cause or causes of the cp. Here are just some of the signs that may be present in a child with suspected cerebral palsy: Weakness, early hand preference, abnormal postures, irritability, feeding difficulties, delayed or impaired speech, excessive or feeble crying, slow to gain weight, very slow or failure to develop motor skills. Cerebral Palsy - Treatments and Alternative Approaches When a child has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy they will generally need different types of treatment. Physical therapy - this will help to build up the strength of the Childs muscles working on their walking and keeping their balance. Speech-language pathology-this is to help the child learn to communicate mainly working on trying to teach the child to talk. Occupational therapy-this is to help the child with skills they need for everyday living to give them some independence like feeding themselves and dressing. There are also some alternative therapies that can help to control and manage the condition. Conductive education - This is to help the child become more independent. Their day will be planned out with physiotherapists, speech therapists and what is called their conductor who will oversee all the tasks to see day to day how the child is progressing and set new more tasks for them, which when achieved will increase the Childs self-esteem. The conductor will form a very close bond with the child, which is vitally important for how successful this treatment will be. The conductor will look at the child not the special need and help to bring out the Childs personality and use their interests to help them learn and achieve more. The Bobath concept - This concentrates on helping the child physically using play to increase muscle control, improve the Childs posture and reduce stiffness. The therapist involved in this use key points of the body when handling the child at all times. This can greatly improve the Childs mobility. Patterning - This works on teaching the undamaged parts of the brain to takeover what the damaged part should be doing. Do Garden Statues Have a Place in a Modern Garden?

May 9th, 2008 by hiroshipetrinack

By Roy Thomsitt The great classic gardens of the past almost always featured garden statues as focal points in their designs. These would often be on a grand scale, with larger than life portrayals of men, women, birds and beasts. They would be used to attract the eye down particular vistas, to add height and interest to a flat area, or to provide a foil for water gardens or ponds. Can those classic traditions be transported to ordinary householders’ garden? The answer to that is yes, although it is usually in a miniature form. A small garden cannot reasonably display a 20 ft stone statue, but can attractively display the same design at one tenth of the height. Garden statues have therefore become very popular for the modern garden and gardener. Materials Used in Garden Statues Garden statues have traditonally been carved from natural stone, but similar and often cheaper results are now commonly achieved through the use of concrete moulds. Apart from concrete and stone, though, some may prefer the shiny Asian garden decor created from bronze. However, that is not all that is available. Marble is a type of stone, but deserves separate mention due to its superior and luxurious lustre; you can also find garden statues in fibreglass and metals other than bronze. Concrete statues, although tough, can still get damaged, and concrete aggregates such as fibrestone are now regularly used in the production of garden statues from concrete moulds. Fibrestone, for example, is concrete reinforced with a fine but very strong mesh, which gives extra strength and durability. This is ideal for high quality, long lasting statues, and can even be used effectively for large, classic style statues for the larger country garden. Also, being lighter than concrete on its own, fibrestone is easier to transport and move around the garden should the need arise. As with many product, you can go to the bottom end of the market and choose plastic statues. These may fulfill your immediate needs, but if you are seeking to reproduce a classic garden of old, you will probably prefer sticking to stone, concrete or concrete aggregates. It is well worth the extra expense both for statues and outdoor planters. Subjects for Garden Statues There has always been a wide choice of subjects for garden statues. Many are of classic origin, such as cherubs, angels, Appollo, Venus, Sphynx and many more religious and mythical icons. In recent times, though, animals have become a popular choice of subject for garden statues, and you may find the majority of the statues you see today are of animals. Statues of lions and unicorns go back many centuries, but today most popular animals can be found as garden statues. Cat and dog statues are easy to find, but you can also find frogs and toads, squirrels and other animals. Planning Statue Placement The best time to consider where to place garden statues is when you are planning your garden design and layout, but that is not a necessity and may not be practical anyway. The great country gardens of the past, and today, used large statues as focal points in vistas, or in prominent positions, where they can freely impose their stature without detracting from the rest of garden. Smaller statues can be very effective in small gardens, but to get maximum effect, as with large gardens, it is worth spending a bit of time considering their surrounds so they blend in seamlessly with the garden design. Just buying a statue while you are out because it catches your eye may lead to disappointment when you get it back home and find it looks out of place in your agrden wherever you put it.
