Choosing an Under Eye Concealer

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Alissa Carter Don’t put up with dark circles or fine lines under your eyes, buy a concealer to hide them! Finding a great concealer is a really difficult decision, especially when there is so much choice out there. Putting more stress on yourself will only create bigger dark circles or fine lines! When going shopping to buy a concealer you may be confronted with loads of different options. So here are a few tips: Buy a concealer especially made for under the eye areas as these are lighter and smoother in texture. Try and go for a lighter shade than you would normally pick as this area will want to appear lighter than the rest of the skin to give your face a lift. Ask the beauticians behind the desks as they will be able to sow you how to apply it properly and pick out the correct one for your skin. Buy into a product that you know works, spend money on it because it can give you an instant lift, and some people find that this is the only product they use most of the time. Either dab on the concealer with your fingertips or use a brush, never pull the skin by spreading it with your fingers. Keep healthy by eating loads of fruit and veg as this will prevent worse under eye problems. If you believe what the major fashion magazines write, some of the celebrities favourite brands are the famous Touche Eclat and the Body Shop Lightening Touch. The Instant Ewww Effect that Kills Attraction — And How To Avoid It!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Maureen Arnold There is this hideous little four letter word in the dating game that will instantly KILL any attraction a woman might have felt toward you. Do you know the word? I bet you do. It is Ewww! The Ewww Effect, as David Deangelo has so eloquently named it, is a total attraction killer, and to be avoided at all costs by every man out there, whether he is just circling the waters for a date, or has honed in on a target and is ready to bait the trap! But wait! Before you go any further, let me relay a story to you that David D tells, because this is something that you have GOT TO KNOW before you go any further, today this minute! So take 5 and read on (And if this sounds familiar, dont worry, I have not named you!) Once upon a time, there was a man who was very attracted to a particular woman. At first, she was just another attractive woman… but the more he got to know her, the more he began to feel attracted to her… and the more time he spent with her, the more that attraction grew into a deep emotional attachment and affection for her. But there was one problem. As his emotional attachment grew stronger andstronger, he also grew more and more insecure. Why? Because he couldn’t tell whether or not she felt the same way towards him. Sometimes she would say things like “You areso important to me” and “I’m glad that you’re in my life”… but nothing ever progressed past the “friendship” stage. There was an occasional hug, an occasional kiss on the cheek from her… and once she even held his hand for a long time while he talked about an emotional issue. But something was wrong with the picture. She just wasn’t acting like a womanthat was “falling in love”. She was acting like a friend. The insecurity that he felt became a spiral that amplified itself… and the more insecure he became, the more afraid he grew of “screwing things up” by kissing her or asking her to be his girlfriend. Plus, the more insecure he became, the less time she seemed to want to spend with him. After spending many days and nights obsessing over this girl, the man finally arrived at the conclusion that if she only knew how HE FELT, that she would feel the same way. So he made a bold move. He TOLD HER how he was felt. He confessed that he was in love, and that he would do anything to be with her. She looked at him with compassion in her eyes and said “Thank you… I really mean that… but I don’t want to mess up our friendship… you’re too important to me… This only confused the man more. He didn’t know how to take it… Did it mean that she really loved him too, but that she was afraid of something? Did it mean that she wasn’t ready for a long-term relationship? Did it mean that she didn’t love him, but thatshe was trying to give him a hint? Did it mean that he hadn’t tried hard enough? Did it mean that he needed to put everything on the line and REALLY let her know how he felt? He finally decided that he couldn’t go on like this anymore… he had to be with her. He had to make sure that she knew just how much he wanted to be with her… so he took a big step, bought her a symbolic gift, and wrote her a long, long letter… again confessing his feelings. And then the unthinkable happened. She didn’t reply. He called her three times a day for almost a week before reaching her. She made an excuse about being very busy, and said “I’ll try to give you a call soon, I have to go”… and hung up…but he never got a call back. Over the following months, the man tried desperately to understand what went wrong… and what happened. What a nice, heartwarming story, huh? Sound familiar? I know, let me guess, you are not that desperate. But in one way or another, we have ALL been there. One time or another, the Ewww! Effect has got us, and we got stuck in the friend zone, and then pushed out of the friend zone even because we wanted more. Why does that happen? It is ALL about attraction, my friend, all about ATTRACTION. As David D says, the Ewww effect is like hammering a railroad spike into the coffin of your relationship! Why do men keep doing the things that cause the Ewww effect over and over? Because they dont GET IT! Do you want to get it? I mean, really, do you WANT TO GET IT? (Ill give you a hint SHE wants you to get it, thats for sure!) The thing that most women know but most men dont is that there are certain traits that women are looking for in a guy. The surprising thing is that those traits dont have anything to do with whether or not you look like Brad Pitt or drive a Viper. Its all about the attraction and David Deangelo says it best when he says that Attraction Isnt a Choice! There are things a guy can do to up his attraction level to women by a HUGE amount, and David D tells you exactly what those steps are one by one. Try this on for size if you think about it from HER perspective, you’ll realize that the moment you do something to “confess”, you have created a TURNING POINT in the relationship. Up until that point, you were harmless. I mean, women always know how men feel. She already knew you wanted her. She knew it from the beginning. But now that you’ve started pursuing her and talking about how you feel, you’ve created a NEGATIVE TENSION that is VERY uncomfortable. You’ve triggered an emotion that is repulsive to women. And it does repel them. You can’t “make a woman like you” or “change how she feels about you” by doing nice things for her…Doing “nice” things for a woman who isn’t attracted to you HURTS you. It backfires. Worse, it creates the “Instant Ewww” feeling that makes it so she’ll NEVER like you. Men make this mistake over and over again in life because they’re doing what MAKES SENSE to them. They’re doing it because they don’t have an understanding of ATTRACTION. I mean, if you have a friend, and you like them, and you want to make them like you more…and you do some nice things for them, they will probably like you more. On the other hand…if you have a woman that you “like” in a romantic way and she doesn’t “feel it” for you, and you do something nice for her because you want HER to like you more, it will BACKFIRE… and she will not only NOT like you more, she will most likely distance herself from you. Guys think that they need to communicate when they like a woman… as if that’s part of the necessary process of getting a girl. In their minds, it goes like this: Like her -> Tell her you like her -> She likes you Well remember… if you follow this pattern yourself with women who aren’t ATTRACTED to you, then it’s going to BACKFIRE. If she’s not into you, then it goes like THIS: She thinks of you as a friend -> You tell her you like her -> She gets the “Instant Ewwws” and never wants to be around you again… THE ANSWER There are really TWO answers to this problem. The first answer is what to do if you’re in a situation where you like a particular girl, but you don’t know if she likes you back. DON’T GET HEAVY WITH HER. Don’t buy her a big gift and write a love letter…Don’t send her ten dozen roses to her work with a note that says, “From your secret admirer”. Don’t call her three times a day. And DON’T CONFESS YOUR LOVE for her. If you want to know how she feels about you, KISS HER (and use “The Kiss Test” that you can learn on my website and in my book). As a rule of thumb, don’t get heavier than HER. Use SIGNALS from her to find out how she feels…and if you don’t know how to read and create those signals, then LEARN. Asking a woman if she’s interested in you in a romantic way or if you are “her type”, will actually DESTROY the chances that she’ll like you. Really. The SECOND answer is: Don’t get into this particular situation in the FIRST PLACE. Avoid it entirely. And how does one do that? One does that by creating ATTRACTION from the beginning. One does that by understanding the dynamics of how and why women have the physical and emotional response of ATTRACTION triggered. One does that by knowing what you’re doing FROM THE BEGINNING. And THAT, my friend, is something that cannot be taught in the short span on one article. If you want to learn more, and really increase your game, check out my website. Is Transferring Ownership to Employees a Good Idea?

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By John Huddleston Employers should consider all implications before transferring any ownership interest in the business to employees. Sharing ownership with your employees can create numerous new problems. These problems stem from the new relationships you would have to maintain with the new co-owners. By transferring ownership to employees, you grant new rights to the employees beyond profit sharing. Owners have rights to examine all of the business transactions. As a corporate officer, you would become a fiduciary for these new owners. A fiduciary has a legal obligation to act primarily for the benefit of the other shareholders. This means that you could be sued for various acts such as shifting corporate opportunity or running certain expenses through the corporation. Even if no litigation resulted, the new co-ownership relationship could create added difficulties that would not otherwise exist. On top of the problems that could arise, the transfer of ownership may not have the intended result. Some employees are motivated by ownership. Others are not. It is possible that some of the employees who acquire an ownership interest will not alter their performance. If you subsequently decide that sharing ownership is not a good idea, it could be difficult to buy back the issued shares. There are a number of other incentives that could be used to motivate employees without transferring actual ownership. These include profit sharing plans and phantom stock plans. Tax accountant John Huddleston has a law degree and masters in tax law from the University of Washington School of Law. He has been a guest tax expert on the radio. He advises small businesses in the Seattle Bellevue Kent Everett area on various tax issues. 5 Vital Ingredients For A Successful Internet Business

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By Mervyn Love Struggling to make a profit from your Internet business? Beginning to despair? Ready to give up? Don’t give up! The profits are there. Just take this marketing health check and you could quickly turn your Internet business into a success. 1. Commit To Success To be successful in Internet marketing, as in any other business enterprise, you have to commit to becoming successful. Set time aside each day for your Internet marketing activities and, more importantly, perform those activities each day without fail. Ask yourself “Do I want to make a successful business out of this, or is it just a hobby?” If it’s just a hobby then fair enough. But don’t expect to make your fortune at it! You honestly cannot expect to achieve any level of success in Internet marketing if you don’t take it seriously. Each day tell yourself there is no such thing as “Get-Rich-QUICK”! “Get-rich-Slowly-And-Steadily” - yes! 2. Set Realistic Goals Have you set realistic goals? Take another look at your marketing plan. You should be able to work through it easily step-by-step without coming to some huge hurdle that brings you crashing down. By setting reasonable goals, you build confidence in yourself and your abilities. If necessary break your goals down into manageable steps. This allows you to confidently set ever-increasing goals that you can regularly meet. People who set unrealistic goals often fail in their Internet business because they get discouraged when they do not achieve them. After a while, they often believe they cannot succeed and stop trying. Don’t let this happen to you. 3. Get a Unique Product They say it is best to have a product which is unique to you. And to a large extent this is true. Beginner Internet marketers often lack a unique product. If you want to be really successful in Internet marketing you need a unique product that you can call your own. This enables you to harness the power of affiliate marketing so that you can have hundreds of marketers actively promoting your product and allows you to multiply your profits on a huge scale. The favorite way to do this is to create an eBook that can be downloaded by purchasers. This means no physical product to ship, no inventory or storage problems. Plus the profit markup is huge compared to a physical product. Remember that what you are selling here is information. If you have expertise in a particular field and think you have some unique ideas, tricks or strategies in this field that other people would find valuable, then you have the basis for a profitable eBook. Do your research, write it up, illustrate it if appropriate and turn it into a PDF file. This becomes your eBook. If it’s different from other books on the subject, or has some unique and valuable aspects to it, you could be on to a winner. 4. Do What You’re Good At First off: do you know what kind of tasks you ARE good at? If not, then sit down with a pen and paper and make a list. Don’t make the mistake of trying to do everything yourself. There are places online where you can hire inexpensive help, on a per project basis, to perform the tasks that you are not an expert in. For instance, if you are good with graphics programs, then go ahead and do your own graphics. Otherwise, contract the graphics out and spend your valuable time doing something you are good at. The same can be said for web design or copywriting. The point here is that you do what you do best, and you can inexpensively hire others to do the rest. You won’t believe how inexpensive it can be and how fast you can put it all together. 5. Avoid Getting Swamped! If there is one thing the Internet marketer should avoid it’s the trap of getting swamped. You can drown in too much information. By all means check out the membership sites, by all means investigate the business opportunities, by all means download the free eBooks - but be warned, you can only read so much, you can only promote so many opportunities before you begin to sink under the weight of there being too much to do. Take my word for it as one who has made this costly mistake - concentrate on one or two business ideas, or just a handful of affiliate programs, and put all your energy into them. Promote just a few profit streams not a cartload of them. There is plenty of money to be made selling stuff on the internet. Take each of these recommendations to heart and you will be well set to reap the rewards. Know Your Competition

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By Jonathan Munk Being familiar with your competitors is a valuable tool when you decide it’s time for a new logo. Normally, your company will be competing directly against companies similar to yours; sometimes the competition will be much larger than you, and other times your company will be striving to beat out other small businesses. Regardless of whom you will be competing against, it’s important to think about where you want to position your company in your market. For example, a lawn care company may want to position themselves as the affordable, reasonably priced alternative that offers just what you need with no nonsense, or perhaps you will decide you want your coffee shop to be very specialized and target higher income customers that demand more. On the other hand, you may want your real estate agency to focus on local residents in your community rather than people moving from out-of-state. Considering these things can go a long way when it comes time to design your logo. Decide where you want to fit in the competition. Do you want your company to look ready to go head to head with competitors by looking mainstream, established and competent, or would you rather stand out by being unique, specialized and exciting? These ideas and messages can be portrayed through good logo design, so it’s important to let your designers know where you want to fit in your particular market. Doing so will help the designers see the same vision you have for your company, and you will be surprised how words that describe your company can be portrayed visually. A fitting logo will help you as you prepare to position yourself against tough competitors. Look in the Mirror

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Simone Kelly Take a moment to step outside yourself. Now, be honest with me here If you could be your own boss, how would you rate your own performance in the last three months? Would you get a raise, a day off as a treat, or would a big and brawny security guy kindly escort you to the parking lot? In order to be an effective marketer and a progressive human being for that matter, you have to take a breather and look in the mirror. What are you doing that’s working and what can you do to improve? See what it is you are actually doing in all your busy days running from meeting to meeting, answering calls, or a zillion emails. Are you remembering your goals or your MISSION? Have you sat down and actually taken the time to write out your goals and your mission? I read somewhere once that you should give yourself a “Company Evaluation” every month to make note of your progress and see where you still need to tighten up your act. I made a similar format to the evaluation form used at one of my past jobs. I tried it on myself for a few months and it really helps you re-focus and remember what your overall VISION was in the first place. It also brings your strengths and weaknesses to the forefront! Try it out and rate yourself at the end of the month to see how you did. Here’s an example of how to do it. List your responsibilities and objectives and rate each one. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best: Evaluation of The Sweet Tooth (Pastry company): - Make an income of $3,000+ with orders for June: 2 - Develop a buzz about my company: 4 - Increase catering for events to at least 5 parties per month: 4 - Improve time management: 1 - Manage and build an effective team: 5 Pros: I did great with developing buzz, because of the press I received in the Daily News. Giving the editor free pies worked! Cons: I was late for two important meetings, because of poor time management. I like to write out the pros and cons of the overall performance as well. What did you do exceptionally well and why? What are the steps needed to make next months evaluation better? When you elaborate on your highs and lowsyou can be your own coach to some extent. You can then set goals to make improvements instead of floating through each month with no direction. Having this on paper might help stop you from repeating the same destructive patterns. You might even want to get a folder or binder to keep them all in, so you can note your progress. Break It Down: _ Review your schedule a week in advance. (Sounds easy enough, but most of us rarely do this–even with Mr. Palm Pilot in our lives) _ Break up big projects up into baby steps. _ Delegate, Delegate, DELEGATE! There is always someone who can help you. Just master the art of picking the RIGHT person for the task. _ Set deadlines for every task, no matter how small. OkayI’ll admit that I’m good for thinking something is a very small project and “a piece a cake”, until 10 of those small pieces of cake pile up and make a big mess! So, set a deadline for the small project and get it outta the way! _ Know your best times of day to work. (Are you a morning person or do you like burning the midnight oil?) _ AND my favorite that I’m just getting the hang of: LEARN HOW TO SAY NO! You can’t please everybody. Alright nowgo shine up that mirror, take a nice long look, and let me know if you see the same reflection next month. Hopefully, you’ll see someone on a whole other level! I’ll be waiting to hear from ya… Simone Kelly is author and founder of Gots To Have It, Marketing, a firm that specializes in marketing and empowering entrepreneurs with a series of workshops and networking events. Natural Beauty Tips

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By Frangesca DAntoni Let me mention first what you should follow first is fruits, plenty of fruits and vegetables. They give you the right vitamins and minerals for healthy looking skin that glows. Here is a beauty tip for your face, that will make your face look radiant and take off the dead skin. -About a dime size portion of “Miracle Whip” not mayonnaise. -Make sure you don’t apply too much. You just want a a nicelayer and don’t forget your neck. -Leave this on your face for 20 minutes. -And then start with clean dry fingertips messaging in smallcircles. Soon you will see little balls of dead skin comingoff. Keep rubbing until your face and neck are done. -Wash with a mild cleanser, and moisturize as normal. I loveto do this. You won’t believe how soft your skin feels and theradiant glow that it will give you. Apply eyeshadow with cotton swabs for an alternative of anapplicator. It’s soft and makes your eyeshadow apply evenly. And they are desposable too, so you toss them away. Another way to remove your make-up on your eyes is vaseline. It removes it very well and is a natural ingredient. Another tip is, apply clear lipgloss under lipstick for soft &shiny lips. A soak for tired feet is always a treat. Soak them for an halfan hour in warm water and add slices of lemons. If you’re not pleased on how your teeth look here is a way whereyou can brighten them up just by using baking soda and perioxide. Baking soda has been healthy for teeth for many years. So youknow it’s safe. All you need is 1 teaspoon of baking soda and1 teaspoon of perioxide mix and brush with toothbrush. Rinse.Be sure the perioxide is no greater than 3%. It says it on the label. This is an inexpensive way to whiten and brighten your teeth. And it’s a healthy way to have whiter brighter teeth. The loofah sponge has been another way to have healthy looking skin too. Plus fights nasty cellulite, that we don’t want.It was first used by women in many European countries for manycenturies for healthy skin. It really works! If you don’t havea loofah sponge yet, go buy one. They sell them in many supermarkets and department stores. You should apply body washon the loofah sponge and rub all over your entire body in your shower or bath. Emotional Exhaustion: Out of Gas? Refuel Now!

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By Paul Davis When my heart is overwhelmed, my emotions frazzled and my mental faculties fried; I continually return to me, myself and I. Upon coming to the end of myself, I realize when there is nothing else. It is then that I turn within for renewal, refreshing and revelation. Emotional exhaustion can come at the end of a laborious work week, after a long vacation with the in-laws or during a duel with your darling damsel to whom you are married. Interaction with people can be both invigorating as well as intimidating. It can be fun and at times furious. Our emotions can run the gamut during relational interaction of all sorts and kinds with various people. Some exchanges are more pleasant than others. If you are in the people business or a relational person, you are more sucsceptible to interpersonal disappointment and conflict. This is because of the frequency of your interactions and the intensity of your expectations. Professions demanding less involvement with people can often be far less stressful due to the removal of the relational component. Things don’t have expectations or complaints. These come from people. That being said, it should be no surprise where emotional exhaustion originates. Unlike intellectual exhaustion that flows from books and placing high demands upon the brain, emotional exhaustion typically occurs from placing high demands upon our emotions when engaged interpersonally with people in varying contexts. Priests feel it when they must juggle a range of emotions from interacting with people in differing seasons of life. Their congregations are full of people marrying, burying, celebrating newborns, considering divorcing spouses, and committee members in conflict. Priests must access a wide array of emotions to show themselves sympathetic, understanding, celebratory and wise hearted. Medical doctors feel it when they must emphathize with dying patients, grieving family members, pregnant mothers, ill children, nurses in under staffed hospitals, pharmacists on the telephone and insurance malpractice claims adjusters. Mothers feel it when they must lovingly support their husbands, rear their children by day, be a lover at night, a social butterfly on the weekends with their friends, serve in their community in some capacity, provide chauffering to and cheerleading at their kids sporting events, and be a chef for three square meals a day. Sales persons feel it when they must be aggressive to procure leads, cultivate new clients, sweeten deals, negotiate closings and follow-up for future sales. Not to mention there are employee interactions, competeing sales persons, emotionally needy secretaries, money hungry executive managers pushing them to their wits end to produce and clients who rescind on their contracts. Add to this all of the family interactions that any sane person would have after work and during the weekend, which compiled apart from any personal space could drive the most stable soul insane. Emotional exhaustion therefore can effect us all at various times. We therefore should acknowledge our need for personal space, time to refuel and earnest desire to regroup when necessary. Such times do not devalue any persons dearest to us. In fact it is just the opposite. Because after being refreshed we can return to being at our best, when we are most loving and useful to those who we love and need us most. Here are 7 Secrets to Refuel Your Emotionally Exhausted Soul: 1. Take time alone where you can rest. Physical rest provides both bodily and emotional rest and renewal simultaneously. 2. Find a quiet place to meditate. Secure a place to think, dream and plan your life. This allows you to see the forest from the trees. 3. Engage in a hobby where you can allow yourself to indulge. Take some me time. For some that means being alone. Others find it refreshing to be around friends who understand and can rejoice with them. Whatever wholesome indulgence makes you feel best, incorporate such into your week. 4. Politely remove yourself from intrusions of the soul. Use an answer machine to handle annoying people and calls. When a stranger comes knocking at your door, look through the peep whole. If you’re not interested in talking to them don’t. 5. Say no without feeling guilty when asked to do something you don’t want to do. It’s your life. Live it your way! 6. Delegate and leverage your dollars to get others to do the work you most dislike that most drains you. Prefer work that you are most passionate about and which you excel at doing. By doing so your energy will be protected, optimized and your creativity realized. 7. Use your most productive hours of the day to create your world, pursue your dreams and plan your strategy. Use the less energetic hours of your day (be it day or night for you) to do activities you least prefer and are excited about. Often these tasks are maintenance oriented. By no means is my method the cure all, but surely it has got you thinking in the right direction to formulate your own strategy for overcoming emotional exhaustion and maximizing your energy levels. It has been said that success is not determined by what you say yes to, but rather by what you say no to. Structure your life in such a way to erect boundaries and perimeters to protect your focus. What you tolerate will dominate. Make your expectations known when relating with others, while seeking to understand and clarify their expectations of you. Be realistic and make yourself clear as to what you can and cannot do to lessen relational pressure. An undivided focus directed toward your primary life’s purpose will undoubtedly invigorate you within and move you forward with dynamic momentum. Regain your focus and life’s purpose. Upon pinpointing your passion and wholeheartedly pursuing it, you will regain your heart. Say no to intruders, intrusions and that which erodes your focus. It’s your life! Now live it your way without apology. Bariatric Surgery Procedure

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By Eddie Tobey Currently, there are eight recognized types of bariatric surgeries performed in hi-tech hospitals in the United States. The kind of bariatric surgery procedure to be adopted depends on the person’s medical history and current medical condition. The bariatric surgeon weighs the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure and decides on the best one to be performed on a person. There are basically three types of bariatric surgery procedures: restrictive, malabsorptive, and combined malabsorptive and restrictive procedures. In the restrictive procedure, the food intake is restricted by decreasing the size of the stomach. This is done using an elastic band or surgical staples that are attached to the upper part of the stomach. Owing to the reduced size of the stomach opening, even small amounts of food cause a feeling of fullness. Restrictive bariatric surgery procedures include vertical-banded gastroplasty, proximal gastric bypass, and adjustable gastric banding. Malabsorptive procedures rely on incomplete absorption of food for reducing body weight. Incidentally, Jejunoileal bypass, the first ever bariatric surgery performed, used this principle. In this procedure, the upper and lower regions of the small intestine were connected so that food could bypass the middle section. A large portion of the food is thus left unabsorbed. However, surgeons do not use this procedure owing to possible complications such as diarrhea and dehydration. Both restrictive and malabsorptive procedures have their share of complications. Surgeons, therefore, combine elements of both procedures to decrease complications on the body’s digestive functions. Regardless of the type of bariatric surgery procedure employed, a patient takes at least six weeks to recover. Until then, the patient has to rely on liquid diets. The level of bodily activity has to be reduced to a bare minimum. Recent advancements in surgery techniques have helped speedup the recovery process. Most state-of-the-art techniques employed today rely less on abdominal incisions. The complications associated with bariatric surgery are therefore on the decrease. Direct Marketing Support Services and Lettershop Services: A Key Role in Your Marketing Campaign

Friday, October 19th, 2007

By Gordon Petten Most marketing firms do a lot of direct marketing. One might even suggest it’s traditionally the bread and butter of a marketing firm’s income. However, in order to properly manage a direct marketing campaign your firm will need to have adequate direct marketing support services, including lettershop services. These support elements will do the grunt work in your direct marketing campaign. Direct marketing support services many involve such things as printing, mailings database management, and campaign management. While lettershop services handle issues tied to the distribution of your direct marketing campaign. This includes many mundane tasks such as labeling, presorting, folding, tracking and so on. However, as mundane as these tasks may be they are critical to the completion of a successful direct marketing campaign. In most direct marketing campaigns, direct marketing support services, and lettershop services are handled by an outside vendor. As with the selection of any outside vendor, we suggest you do your research. But there’s a problem with this. Obviously, competitive marketing firms may be loathing giving you any information about the companies they use for direct marketing support services, and lettershop services. But we have found a way around that one, and it may sound silly but it actually works. Call your congressman. Stop laughing. We are serious. Why, you may ask, we are not trying to get a bill passed? We are just looking for some good vendors for direct marketing support services and lettershop services, how could our congressmen help with that? Well, it is quite simple, political candidate do a lot of direct mailings, and they usually use local companies. Also, you are a small business in your congressman’s district; he will have a reason to help you. Okay, so now you have found a good company to handing your direct marketing support services and lettershop services. Are there any other pitfalls? Of course there are. As with many other outside vendors, those dealing with direct marketing support services and lettershop services make money on volume. Meaning that quality control, though a priority, may not be their top priority. So you need to be especially carefully that all printed material, databases and instructions are given both verbally and in writing. In our experience, if you have never worked with the vendor, we suggest you do this in person. Although thanks to digital printing a lot may be done via phone, FTP and email, we still feel that these initial contacts should be done in person. And do not give this job to a new hire or an intern. That is just asking for trouble. This needs to be done by someone who has been at your firm for at least a year. Someone who can think on his or her feet. Another important thing about vendors who offer direct marketing supports services and lettershop services is that they see direct marketing campaigns every day. They have a sense of what works and what does not. If they question some aspect of your campaign, listen to them. They probably know what they are talking about. And, as you and vendor build trust; you may find them giving you pointers that they only share with valued customers. We might add that the referral from you congressman, might also help grease the early client vendor relations. And you thought that was a crazy suggestion, right?
