How to Paint a Model Airplane

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By Andrew Ling Once the basic structure of your model airplane is completed, it’s time to think about painting. Types of Paint Model paints are generally of two types: (oil-based) enamels, or aqueous (water-based) acrylic lacquers. The hobby enamels thin with mineral spirits, dry slowly and harden to a high-gloss finish. The hobby acrylics thin with water or alcohol, dry faster, and clean up easier. Never mix enamel with acrylic, and make sure that you use the correct type of thinner. Brush The paintbrush is the simplest method of applying paint. You’ll need a broad flat brush for large area coverage, a medium diameter round brush for general use, and a fine-point brush for the smallest detail. The keys to getting a smooth paint job are:Use a clean brush.Do not overlap brush strokes. Don’t paint over an area with wet paint. If needed, let the paint dry, then apply a second coat.Use a brush with soft bristles, sable is best. For a wide area, use a wide brush to minimize the number of strokes.Keep dried paint particles out of your paint bottle. Use a straw or disposable dropper when transferring paint. For acrylic paints, try adding a small amount of thinner, or acrylic paint retarder. Practice on scrap plastic before painting your model kit. After using the brush, clean up immediately with the recommended thinner. Spray Can The spray paint can is also commonly used for model kits. The spray can:Delivers a smoother paint job with no brush marks. Is faster than brushing.Requires less cleanup. However, paint cans deliver a wide area spray and so are somewhat wasteful and more expensive. Also, there is a limited range of colors available, and it’s not possible to custom-mix colors. For multiple colors on a model, masking must be done to limit over-spray. The cans will cool down as they are used, which reduces the paint flow. Place the can in warm water for a few minutes to fix this. Despite their drawbacks, spray cans can be very handy, e.g. for single colors such as model car bodies. Testors spray enamels and Tamiya spray lacquers are popular choices. Airbrush The airbrush is the most versatile tool for painting small scale models. When used with a compressor as the air source, it behaves as a very large spray can, while also allowing control of the pressure and of the amount of paint. The airbrush can be used to used to create fine lines of paint and many other useful effects. Some basic tips:A single action airbrush is simpler, easier to learn, and generally lower cost. However, the double action gives you more control over the paint job. A compressor will be cheaper in the long run than using cans of compressed air. Use the paint makers recommended thinner. This will keep the paint flowing smoothly without drying too fast. Follow the instructions for cleaning, to keep the airbrush working properly. Omega-3 Fish Oil In The Diet And Weight Loss

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

By Shola Osho When embarking on a diet, most people make the decision to cut out many foods that are considered unhealthy, such as refined carbohydrates, high calorie foods and fats. However, in order to eliminate excess body fat, you need to make sure youre eating enough of the right fats. While its true that some fats are not good for you, others are absolutely essential for losing weight and maintaining a healthy diet. While the body can transform carbohydrates and proteins into saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, it cannot produce certain polyunsaturated fats. These fats that the body cannot produce are called essential fatty acids (EFAs), and they must be obtained from the food that we eat EFAs actually help the body to dissolve fat. So to cut out foods high in them is like cutting out fat-burning agents! What are Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)? EFAs are classed into two groups: omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are needed by the body to keep the heart, eyes and brain healthy, and omega-6 fatty acids are needed to keep cells, skin, the blood and immune system healthy. Essential Fatty Acids, otherwise known as Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fatty Acids, are polyunsaturated fatty acids found in the oil from oily fish and vegetable sources such as flax seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, olive oil and canola oil. Both types of EFAs are required for the production of the eicosanoids hormones that are responsible for regulating the major body functions, including digestion, insulin production and the storage of fat. How Omega-3 Fatty Acids Aids Weight Loss It has now been proven scientifically that Omega-3 fatty acids help you lose weight. Studies at the University of South Australia have found that taking omega-3 fish oil combined with moderate aerobic exercise boosts weight loss. Over a period of 12 weeks, researchers gave a group of obese adults daily doses of omega-3 fish oil and supervised moderate aerobic exercise three times a week. The researches compared the results of this group with other groups that were not given omega-3 fish oil and exercise three times a week. The group that had the omega-3 fish oil lost significantly more weight, particularly around the abdominal region, than the people who had not been given the omega-3 fish oil and exercise. They concluded that Omega-3 fatty acids in the fish oil activates the enzymes responsible for burning fat, and combined with exercise and increased oxygen intake, they increase the metabolic rate, which has an effect of burning more fat and losing weight. Warning About Fish Oil Many reports have indicated that commercial fish can be harmful to peoples health, in particular the health of young children and women of childbearing age. This is because certain fish contain high levels of contaminants such as mercury and methyl mercury that can damage the nervous system of an unborn child or young child. These toxins can also be transferred into fish oil and fish oil capsules. It is possible to get the same weight loss benefits from vegetable sources of omega-3 fatty acids, without the toxins. Eating a diet rich in olive oil, canola oil, and rapeseed oil, nuts, avocado and soy will give you the omega-3 fatty acids your body needs to help you lose weight, without any of the associated health risks. Term Papers For Sale-School Papers Cheap; Why do College Students Cheat?

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

By Lance Winslow Perhaps you have heard about the College Papers online for sale. The students know that if they are caught cheating that they will get a Failing Grade in the class and many colleges and Universities now have expulsion for a second offense. This is because if the kids cheat then the degree from that academic institution is indeed worthless in the market place and it taints the schools reputation. Website sites commonly offer; Term Papers For Sale and School Papers Cheap. Although in the end one has to ask; Why do College Students Cheat? They are only hurting them selves as our Grandparents would say. So why do they cheat? Ah ha ha ha! The Devil will always tempt the weak. What is at the root of this problem? Poor parenting? Does the devil make young couples get together to have more kids so as to entice the new generation into the Evil Ways. The Devil is happy that people do not need licenses to have children and is very happy to see that no one is addressing the root of the real problem of piss poor parenting. Ah ha ha ha! Some schools, colleges and Universities now have software programs to scour the Internet and catch the cheaters who plagiarize their work. You can use all the software search tools you want, they will always cheat, due to their peer pressure, parenting and promiscuity and it should be patently perceptive of the pandemic pattern and apparent process of The Devil! I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. How to Work with Florida’s Lemon Law

Monday, January 14th, 2008

By E. B. Randall If you haven’t read the article on “Coverage Under Florida’s Lemon Law,” you’re strongly encouraged to read that first so that you’re clear on what vehicles, under what circumstances are and aren’t covered by the Florida Lemon Laws. This article is about the procedures which are necessary when you decide to pursue your rights under the Florida Lemon Laws. Your first concern is how long has it been since you bought the vehicle. A Lemon Law action can be brought during what is generally called the “Lemon Law Rights Period.” This period is the eighteen (18) months beginning on the original delivery date or the first twenty-four thousand (24,000) miles. The period ends with whichever occurs first. The process required often seems to be both long and complicated. While it can be discouraging at first, if you are willing to be patient, stay with it and be sure to follow the procedures carefully, you can succeed. Don’t give up and don’t let anything discourage you from trying. What follows is an outline of the process, the basic requirements and the steps involved: First, within the Lemon Law Rights Period, there must have been either (a) a minimum of three attempts by the manufacturer or its agent to repair the vehicle for the same defect (b) the vehicle must have been unusable for reason of attempted repair by the manufacturer (or its agent) for one or more defects for a total of thirty days or more. This does not include any periods for maintenance dictated by the owner’s manual. Second, when vehicle reaches a cumulative total of fifteen or more days being out of service for repair by the manufacturer or its agent for one or more defects, the owner is required to give written notice of the need for repair, by registered or express mail, to the manufacturer. Then the manufacturer has one last chance to fix the defect. Third, if this final attempt at repair fails, then manufacturer must either replace or repurchase the motor vehicle within forty days. However, it isn’t automatic. You must continue to follow the proper procedures to enforce your rights by following these steps: If the manufacturer has a dispute-settlement procedure then you need to apply under that procedure. Not every manufacturer does, so be sure to check with the manufacturer. If you’re not pleased with the decision of the manufacturer’s dispute-settlement procedure, you can then apply to be heard by the State of Florida’s New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board. If Florida’s New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board declines to hear the case OR it hears the case but makes a ruling against you, you can now file the case in Circuit Court. If you are appealing from a ruling against you by the Board, you need to do it within 30 (thirty) days of that ruling. In the most general terms, the covered vehicle must have been subject to repair for the same defect (which impairs the value, safety or usability of the vehicle) for at least thirty (30) days. This must occur during the Lemon Law Rights Period. You must also be acting in good faith and must follow the law in providing proper notice to the manufacturer. Finally, you will need to submit to arbitration. The Office of the Attorney General has published more complete information in “Preserving Your Rights Under The Lemon Law.” You can obtain this publication through the Division of Consumer Services at: (800)321-5366 or by writing to: Office of the Attorney General Lemon Law Research Unit The Capitol Tallahassee, Florida 32399-1050 E.B. Applying for a Small Business Loan: Preparation Before Meeting Your Bank Manager

Monday, January 14th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Robert_Warlow]Robert Warlow We all know the 5 Ps when it comes to preparing for a big event preparation prevents particularly poor performance and when it comes to facing your Bank Manager with your begging bowl in your hand, this has never been more true! But there are some steps you can take before the meeting to ensure you dont suffer from a poor performance. Prepare a Script If you have prepared in advance your Bank Manager should have your Business Plan in front of him. Reading a Plan though cannot give him a feel for the real person behind the business. He needs to see and hear that for himself and this is your chance to win him over and show what a great businessperson you are! To be ready for this you have to prepare a script, which sells you and the business. Take each aspect of the Plan and come up with a list of the main points you wish to put across. Against each point, write down some of your key thoughts and then play around with how you would phrase it. You don’t want to ramble on and put the Manager to sleep, so make your points exciting, interesting and not too long. Your pitch should also include the strengths and weaknesses of both you and your business. Yes, your pitch is about presenting the positive aspects of your business and the opportunities within your grasp but it is also the time to acknowledge the negatives. Any experienced Banker will quickly pick up on the flaws in your Plan or a questionable background. Be up front and honest and weave this into your pitch. Learn Your Script The interview is your first chance of selling something yourself, your idea and your business. An actor’s job is to go on the stage and make people believe he is the person he’s trying to portray. He does this by thorough preparation, which includes learning his script, how to stand and sit, how to put across meaning in what he says. All of this is achieved through knowing and understand his script and learning it. You have to think like an actor. Your script is your Business Plan. Spend time to come up with questions you may be asked, so all that remains for you to do is practice your delivery. Prepare Strong Opening and Closing Statements Two of the key elements of your presentation, which has to be thoroughly prepared, are your opening and closing remarks. These have to concisely sum up what you want from the Bank and portray confidence in your ability to achieve. The words used and the presentation has to be up beat and positive. People are more likely to remember the first and last thing they heard, so make your opening and closing remarks powerful and compelling. Whatever you do, don’t start the interview with an opening line such as,”I know you probably can’t help me but……….” Start off with something along these lines, “Thank you for seeing me today. I trust you have had the chance to review my Business Plan. As you know, I am looking for a loan to ” Similarly, your closing remarks have to be prepared in advance and rehearsed. Try something along the lines of, “Thank you very much for your time. I’m sure you can see that I’m fully committed to making this venture succeed. If you want to know more, give me a call. If not, then I look forwarding to receiving your answer soon.” A weak close such as, “Oh I do hope you can help me”, is not going to get you very far! Your closing statement has to be upbeat, positive and demonstrate that you are raring to go! Knowing what to say and how to say it will make you look professional and worthy of support and that’s your aim. Someone who stumbles over their words and whose sentences are full of “ums” and “ahs” will not impress. A salesperson that has a prepared sales pitch will reap the benefits, and so it will be for you in your request for finance if you have a well prepared and practiced presentation. Secured Loan

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jame_Smith]Jame Smith Your loan, if supported by strong assets, is called a secured loan. A secured loan can be called a minimal risk loan. This means negligible risk for the moneylender. The degree of risk taken up by the lender is considerably lower, as in the event of non-payment the assets can be attached. In legal parlance, a secured loan is a loan wherein the borrower pledges collateral that he/she will forfeit in the event that he/she cannot pay back the loan. In a secured loan the property of the borrower acts as a security, which in effect balances the risk associated with the lending process. As is the case of all loans, the borrowed amount varies from one lender to another. It is also dependant on the credit history of the borrower. The amount usually depends on three factors namely the valuation of the real estate, the financial background, and the personal state of affairs. A secured loan is very risky business indeed, as you stand to lose a great deal in case you default on the loan. There are people for whom secured loans are tailor made to satisfy the money requirements and still there are other people for whom secured loans are not such a good idea. Secured loans are long-term loans and the time period can stretch up to 25 years. A great benefit of secured loans is that there are no restrictions as to its use. You can use it for any purpose, as the lender sees no harm in allowing you to spend as you please. After all, he knows that you house is very precious to you and you will know better than to default on your loans. A secured loan is best for those who require large sums of money and the borrower needs a large amount of time to repay the loan. Your search for a secured loan to suit your requirement wont be very easy. This is because the lender takes every precaution to see to it that the loan is repaid. The lender tests your claim for a loan on different parameters. It is only if all the factors are favorable, that your loan is approved. But this does not mean that there are very few providers in the market who offer secured loans. You will be spoilt for choice in this regard, and to draw a comparison between all of them is an impossible task. In such cases you must evaluate the quotes gives by various lenders and hone in on the one that best satisfies your needs. It is not very easy to be sure of the secured loan that can best serve your requirements. Some people hire the services of broker in this regard. A broker can help you get in touch with the best lender in terms of rates offered. But in the end it is best to be guided by your own judgment. So make an informed decision, choose a secured loan, and see your dreams take shape. Carving Your Own House Sign: Stonecarvers Tools

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

By Steve Walker If ever you fancy a try at stone carving or even a stab at sculpture, it might be of some help to understand the various tools and their uses. There are basically three different sets of tools depending on the type of stone or marble you are intending to use, though there is a fair bit of overlap. Some tools being useful on almost any type of material. Wood Handled Masons chisels: For working with softish sandstones, i.e.; Bathstone, Cotswold etc. These look similar to the wood working chisels commonly available. However, the steel is tempered differently and they are heavier duty . They come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes. These specialist chisels are used with a lead dummy. A lead dummy is a kind of mallet, basically a lead cylinder about 2 inches in diameter and 3 inches high mounted on a wooden handle. Bulb End steel chisels: These steel chisels are heavier duty tools than the wood handled type and are used for working harder limestones such as Portlandstone. They come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes. These chisels are designed for use with a traditional wooden masons mallet. These round shaped mallets made from Italian Yew come in various sizes and weights, from four inches in diameter to nine inches. Steel End steel and tungsten chisels: These chisels are for use with a steel hammer, either a large masons steel hammer or a steel club hammer. The choice of hammer will depend on the task in hand. These chisels are the most commonly available and are made in a huge range of sizes and shapes. As a carver you will be more concerned with the smaller tools. Individual chisels are named according to use and size. So for instance carving chisels are called splitters (I dont know why just trust me!). So you can have a quarter inch splitter or half inch splitter etc. Here is a list of the various types. Point or Punch: Pointed chisel usually for roughing out or getting rid of waste material. Bolster: Any flat bladed chisel with a straight edge, from half inch to four inches. Splitter: Small chisels for fine work such as carving or letter cutting. Claw or Comb: Toothed chisel for taking off waste material in a controlled way, creating a roughly flat finish. Pitcher: Flat bladed chisel with a blunt wedge like edge for taking off large chunks of waste material, needs lots of experience to use, not for the faint hearted! Bullnose: As the name suggests, a flat chisel with a rounded edge for creating curved surfaces. Scallop: Similar too a bullnose chisel but the blade is hollowed like a half section of tube, steel tools only, for use on softer materials. Carvers and Masons will often shape the tools they need from existing chisels to suit particular jobs. Creating bullnose chisels from bolsters or shaping small splitters to get into awkward corners.Steel tools re-shaped in this way will need re-tempering, tungsten tools can be used without this need and are the best choice for beginners. If this is your first stone carving project I suggest you buy just two chisels, a half inch and a quarter inch tungsten splitter. If you need a shaped chisel just shape one of your chisels as needed on a grindstone. In addition search out the smallest steel club hammer you can find , if its an old one so much the better, cut down the handle to just five or six inches, it will be much easier to use!For your first project why not carve your own house sign? Its a relatively simple project and if you hang it out side your house you will be showing off your work to every visitor to your home! Steve Walker has been a craftsman in stone and marble for 40 years. Leaving school at fifteen he entered an apprenticeship as an ecclesiastical marble mason with an old London firm, and in his long career have practised as a stone mason, letter cutter, restoration carver, marble mason and carver, fireplace designer and manufacturer. He has worked in old fashioned traditional stone firms and in modern marble workshops, in almost every type of stone marble and granite. Online Dating Tips

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

By Roger Overanout If you are just getting into the world of online dating and don’t know its finer points, then the following tips should be of help: 1. Be sure to have a nickname that attracts interest. Don’t try to be too sexy or hints at marriage, a little finesse goes a long way. A nickname that uses your own name is best avoided. A nickname based on your looks may prove appealing to men. 2. Be patient, at first you may be tempted to send e-mails to all the attractive member of the opposite sex with your zip code. But if you are a little patient you my find that some of those will contact you first. If anyone you are attracted to doesn’t get in contact with you, send them a short e-mail and then wait for them to respond. 3. On the first date be a little cautious about the questions you answer. Don’t give your date any information about your income or any past relationships. Do not rush in and tell them how much you want to get married! 4. Always have more than one photograph in your rsum, initially men find the visual aspect much more attractive. If you post plenty of photos, a potential date will get a better idea about how you look and whether you may be his type, before they meet you. 5. If some one will not send you a photograph, forget them, they may not have something to hide, but why take a chance. 6. If a person only sends you his picture or his profile may not be worth a response. It is better if they send you an email as well. 7. Be patient wait at least 24 hours before you reply to your date’s e-mail. If you get back to them too quickly, they may get the impression that you are too desperate. 8. Don’t log on to your personal website or answer e-mails on a Friday or Saturday. You want to give the impression you are popular and not available on the weekend. 9. If someone does not respond, stop e-mailing them. If they really want to meet you, they will contact you and ask you out for a date. Don’t appear to keen. 10. If someone doesn’t ask you out after several e-mails you need to reassess where the relationship is going. Keep mentioning that you are going out with friends and if they cannot take a hint it may be best to stop all communication with them. 11. Usually emails are quite short but this is one of those times when there is no need to keep them short. Getting a short three-line email can seem strange or even rude to someone who has sent you a long e-mail.
